Hebrews 3
Jesus Greater Than Moses
1Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. 2He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house. 3Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. 4For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. 5Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future. 6But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.
Warning Against Unbelief
7So, as the Holy Spirit says:
"Today, if you hear his voice,
8do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the desert,
9where your fathers tested and tried me
and for forty years saw what I did.
10That is why I was angry with that generation,
and I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.'
11So I declared on oath in my anger,
'They shall never enter my rest.' "[a]
12See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. 14We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. 15As has just been said:
"Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion."[b]
16Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? 17And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert? 18And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed[c]? 19So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.

Heb 3
I really like this,
(NLT) 12Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters.[c] Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. 13You must warn each other every day, as long as it is called "today," so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.
This is great instruction for us and how we blog if you ask me. 13You must warn each other every day, we must stay on each other to be committed and encourage others when theay are slipping.
Father, as always I ask you to help us stay string ni our faith and committed to your word. I pray for each one of these guys and their families today.
IN Christ,
cas
agree with you cas...i know i dont do a good enough job encouraging others...i dont do a good enough job encouraging you guys...but when i calm my mind and heart and put aside my selfish desires, there is a deep truth that i know and desire, a feeling of purity in God and a desire or at least a calling to share with others and to build up one another. this is who i pray i can become, not for my sake, but for each of you, for each person i encounter in my life.
God, when it comes to building up others, i stumble. Change me Lord so i can be more like you and i eagerly serve and encourage others. Amen.
Heb 3:
(trying to catch up)
I agree with both of your comments, we certainly are good at pushing each other, and trying to get everyone doing it, but I know I haven't done my share of encouraging either. This passage is certainly fitting, as I have been running like a chicken with my head cut off back at work, and things haven't gone as smooth as they could. When I ask others for advice, I get an uninterested "I don't know" without even considering the question, whereas when the situation reverses itself, I can't keep myself from being helpful. It burns me when others aren't even willing to help but turn around and ask for help 5 minutes later. So I equate this with being encouraging. We must take our encouragement from Christ and each other, cause it certainly won't come from the fallen world.
"Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion."
I'm trying my best to associate the goofy stuff that has gone on at work with work stuff, and not have it impact my outlook and mood, but I'm failing somewhat. Focusing on the Lord always seems to help though.
Father, help lift up these men, and encourage them not only in their walk, but also in their work, family life, and mood. Let our focus on You pervade all of our life, and help us not compartimentalize You. Lift this grayness off of me and let me be Your beacon once again. Let me be satisfied with what is going on and keep me from chasing unrealistic goals. Keep watching over jrs and elb, and guide them in your ways. We thank You in the name of Your son, Jesus,
Amen
