1 A wise child[a] accepts a parent's discipline; a young mocker refuses to listen.
2Good people enjoy the positive results of their words, but those who are treacherous crave violence.
3Those who control their tongue will have a long life; a quick retort can ruin everything.
4Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper and be satisfied.

6Godliness helps people all through life, while the evil are destroyed by their wickedness.

So, do you think we should be willing to take criticism humbly or what??? Still plenty to chew on in here for me. Just more to add to the list of things I should work on. This is good stuff fellas. Hope you all are really enjoying it.
Father, watch over timmcd as he has his meeting today. Recieve our prayers for him and give him strength and wisdom. Give him that something special that makes him different from the others. watch over all of our brothers and bring those back how are falling off.

Prov 13
A lot of pperplexing statements in here. What happens to the poor vs. the rich, the lazy vs. the industrious, the wise vs. the foolish...
I must admit that not all of it immediately makes me go "yep, uh huh" but sometimes I say "really? hmmm?"
Not all of it seems fair, like:
23A poor person's farm may produce much food, but injustice sweeps it all away.
In the end though, it is amazing, that in all of the change in the world since these proverbs were written, how pertinent and consistent they remain. Also, it is clear that God intends to reward us in this world for following him.
Maybe NLT should have translated
v11 as "Wealth from lottery winnings quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows.
:-)
Father, may I be careful to keep these admonitions in the front of my mind, as I try to compete as a wiseman in the World that ignores your truth(s).
In Christ's Name, AMEN
