1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world - the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes, and the boasting of what he has and does - comes not from the Father but from the world.
Thoughts on today's verse: Love for things, especially temporary ones, can sure get us in trouble. Even worse, we can begin to think they will make us happy or fill the empty places in our hearts. But if we really place our hopes and dreams in our Abba Father, we are attached to eternity, and what we need most is always with us!
Prayer: Give me wisdom, Holy God, to invest in you and things that matter. I confess to you that my eyes and my heart are often distracted by the glitzy stuff that is temporary. By your Spirit, O Father, stir my heart to yearn for you. Through Jesus I pray, amen.

Busted, I just finished looking at an email from Walmart for their TV, game console bundles!
Seriously, great reminder for me today that I need to pass this on to my kids as an example of a life focus. I need to play 'tag' with them when asked instead of doing more 'work' on the house or yard.
I'm amazed at how addicted I am to stuff. What ever happened to "Do not store up for yourselves treasures where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal."
I need to do something today that has value in eternity...
This is so true. I can not even count the number of times I thought that a purchase would finally give me that contentment I was looking for. If I just had one of those, I would be set. Boom, I get it and a few eweks later, it is on to the next best thing. My prayer is for contentment and that I seek for fulfilmant from our heavenly Father only. This carries over to everything.

Well, just adding one more person in need to complete surrender to God in this area. A great reminder/kick in the groin.
Somehow God's Word does much more than man's ever could.
Thanks,
