2 John 1
1The elder,
To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I only, but also all who know the truth - 2because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:
3Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, will be with us in truth and love.
4It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. 5And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
7Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. 9Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. 11Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.
12I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
13The children of your chosen sister send their greetings.

2 John 1
Morning fellas,
One of those weeks I guess; you know, when you just kinda fell like you are going through the motions???
The same theme we saw in 1 John is reiterated here in the begining of 2 John. It is all about love and avoiding deception. Well, it is certainly a challenge in todays world and something that we all will struggle with from time to time. Guess that is why we surround ourselves with a band of brothers that can keep us in check.
Father, renew our hearts and minds, and help me to refocus my energy towards you and loving others. Thank You for Your unlimited grace.
In Christ,
cas
2 John 1
That makes two of us cas. Certainly here and working cause God says I'm supposed to be. As a pastor I once spoke with said about prayer life, sometimes its steak and potatoes, sometimes its bread and water. It's been a bread and water kind of week.
In contrast, I've been encouraged by John's words of love. I certainly have had some opportunities to become closer with my wife over the past two days and it sure feels good to be conciously and constantly thinking about love and exhibiting it towards her.
I'm also reminded in this chapter about John's theme of consistency. We can't run ahead with what we've learned and leave God and the Word in our wake. That just leads us into the same stupid hole we continue to fall into.
Father renew us, grant us a sign through our obedience and our love for You, that we can continue to grow closer and be encouraged. Please watch over AAB and ease her mind and let us continue to draw closer.
Amen

Morning Fellas,
I feel the same as CAS and CRB. This chapter is a bread and water week. I know sometime I need weeks like this so that I can digest some of the heavier things I have been reading.
Lord continue to teach us about love and give us the power to continue to read your word daily even when the verses seem so familiar.
Amen,
LT
