Revelation 5 (NIV)

The Scroll and the Lamb

1Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. 2And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, "Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?" 3But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals."
6Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits[a] of God sent out into all the earth. 7He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9And they sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth."
11Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"
13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!" 14The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.

honestly, i get lost reading revelations. who is the author of this book? and, when i read revelations, who is the person that is "talking" about his/her expereince and what they are seeing?

sorry i am not adding much value on this one, but i need some clarification.

Father God, i praise you this morning. I know it is easy to sink into negativity, boredom, laziness, a lack of ambition. I know this happens in life, at work, with relationships. Give me and these men the ambition to walk through our days full of joy, full of thankfulness, full of motivation. Not for ourselves, but for you. Amen.

I believe that Revelation was written by John while in exile on an island. He is describing these visions that have been shown to him by an angel while in exile. These visions are how the endtimes will play out.
From Rev 1:

1The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Back to Rev 5
I think that is a microcosm of how blessed we are.
4I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside.
None of us, not one is blameless and can enter heaven, as we are all sinners, except one, Jesus. He can open the scroll and begin his paradise on Earth after the endtimes. If it weren't for Him, we would end up suffering forever, both on Earth and after. But,
9And they sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth."
How cool is that? And how blessed are we?
Thank You Jesus, for dying for me, for my family and for these men. Thank You for buying my sin with Your life. How could I continue to purposely sin, when I know the cost? I won't, and I thank You for dying for those sins which have not yet been committed. I am a poor wretched soul who truly is lucky to have a found a home in You.
Father, thank You for Your Son, help me to let others find Him.
Amen,
crb

CRB, you pretty much summed it up. The only other vers I saw as so powerful was v13

13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!"

If we could only live with that attitude now in every moment.

Fellas, please pray for AQV's father, a co-worker of mine. He has been diagonsed with cancer and has only been given 6 months. Also, my uncle WL and his family. He reecntly had a stroke and things have been pretty crazy for them.

Father, renew my spirit. remove this blah feeling I have. I am so blessed and greatful. Blessed so far beyond what I am worth. Watch over AQV and his amily as well as WL and his. Give them peace and help them trust in You. Watch over my brothers this week and keep them strong. Glad to see you back JMB.

In Christ,
cas
