Proverbs 7 (NLT)

Another Warning about Immoral Women

1Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands. 2Obey them and live! Guard my teachings as your most precious possession.[a] 3Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.
4Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family. 5Let them hold you back from an affair with an immoral woman, from listening to the flattery of an adulterous woman.
6I was looking out the window of my house one day 7and saw a simpleminded young man who lacked common sense. 8He was crossing the street near the house of an immoral woman. He was strolling down the path by her house 9at twilight, as the day was fading, as the dark of night set in. 10The woman approached him, dressed seductively and sly of heart. 11She was the brash, rebellious type who never stays at home. 12She is often seen in the streets and markets, soliciting at every corner.
13She threw her arms around him and kissed him, and with a brazen look she said, 14"I've offered my sacrifices and just finished my vows. 15It's you I was looking for! I came out to find you, and here you are! 16My bed is spread with colored sheets of finest linen imported from Egypt. 17I've perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. 18Come, let's drink our fill of love until morning. Let's enjoy each other's caresses, 19for my husband is not home. He's away on a long trip. 20He has taken a wallet full of money with him, and he won't return until later in the month."
21So she seduced him with her pretty speech. With her flattery she enticed him. 22He followed her at once, like an ox going to the slaughter or like a trapped stag, 23awaiting the arrow that would pierce its heart. He was like a bird flying into a snare, little knowing it would cost him his life.
24Listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words. 25Don't let your hearts stray away toward her. Don't wander down her wayward path. 26For she has been the ruin of many; numerous men have been her victims. 27Her house is the road to the grave.[b] Her bedroom is the den of death.

as a newly married man, these are very eye opening words. i think about the commitment i made in getting married...a commitment in front of God...i know the lure of other women can come at us like a snake in the grass, but i remind myself that i made a COMMITMENT to my wife and TO GOD! that isnt to say i wont see attractive women, but i must ALWAYS fall back on the fact that when i stood at the altar, i made a COMMITMENT IN FRONT OF AND TO GOD.

Father, protect us from the temptations. I pray that you will always gaurd our hearts from other women. that no matter what our eyes see or ears hear, that you put a coat of armor on us to NEVER give in to that tempation. But even more so, give us an attitude of love that we constantly disply to our wives. Amen.

Hola,

timmcd pretty much nailed it. my prayers are the same.

one thing thing i really focused on (taken slightly out of context) was v 2.. and wonder how I can make myself feel this way about God's word???

Guard my teachings as your most precious possession.[a] 3Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.

Father, change me from the inside out. Make Your waord mine and these other men our most important possession. The rest will fall into place after that.

In Christ

Yeah Fellas,

You guys are on point. I pray that God not only give me wisdom against immoral married women but also immoral single women. Being single is sometime tough, because the temptation is so great to "forgot" the teachings of the bible when it comes to dealing with women.

Lord, I pray that you will continue to guide me on path in life and when the time is right send me the "one" again.

Amen,

LT

I enjoyed all the comments-TMZ don't worry about length. This is the only important stuff I read all day, the more we can chat, read and post about the better.
I also wanted to second TMZ's post. The rest of us hit on commitment, and making the right choices once we're in a situation, but what has always helped me the most is:
5Don't let your hearts stray away toward her. Don't wander down her wayward path.

Just keep away from the situation. We've all been blessed with the curse of Adam. God wanted us to understand the strong pleasures of the body, and their true power is hard to resist, so we need to avoid the situations where our human frailty gets us into trouble.

Father, thank You for the continued posts of these men, who have helped me focus on You, and consider the words of Solomon more carefully. Guide me to resist temptation and avoid it. Thank You for helping me learn to gain a more positive outlook on my situation at work, and help me to continue looking at how things are not what they might be. Help me to keep my head focused on You and my family and not be so preoccupied. Watch over AAB as she continues to make progress in her trial. In Jesus' name,
Amen
