Psalms 23-24 (NLT)

Psalm 23
A psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I have everything I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
4 Even when I walk through the dark valley of death,[a] I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You welcome me as a guest, anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.

Footnotes:
Psalm 23:4 Or the darkest valley.

Psalm 24
A psalm of David.

1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.
2 For he laid the earth's foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.
3 Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?
4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.
5 They will receive the LORD's blessing and have right standing with God their savior.
6 They alone may enter God's presence and worship the God of Israel.[a]

Interlude

7 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.
8 Who is the King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, invincible in battle.
9 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.
10 Who is the King of glory? The LORD Almighty-- he is the King of glory.

Footnotes:
Psalm 24:6 Hebrew of Jacob.

Yes, CAS we do serve an awesome God. I like reading this passage since it reminds me that I have everything that I need with God.

Lord, I am asking for forgiveness for making the decision not to attend church on yesterday. Lord help me stay committed everyday all day.

Just imagine the sight, as the procession approaches the gates - the One, the King of Glory - the only one worthy of entering into the presence of God. Awesome.

Guys - thanks for all your prayers. I had a great week with my parents, wife and kids.

Onde day we (wife, kids and I) did a devotional on Psalm 23.

v5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You welcome me as a guest, anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.

We had a long discussion about who our enemies are and peer pressure. Was a great morning. Praise god for His faithfulness.

Father bless these men.

Prov 23-24
3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
This is so true for me this week, after a long weekend with AAB in Vegas. It was nice having some alone time with her away from our responsiblities and getting to reconnect. This time the scenery was much more striking, very sad, and not nearly as enjoyable as when I was less mature in my walk. The little things hit me, about how many of these people just need the Lord. I'm not saying this as the offended person, but just how many people were focused on so many of the wrong things, the short sightedness of all of it. That side of the vacation was rather sad. The time to hang out with my wife was well-needed and it was a lot of fun overall.
As I get back into the swing this week, I was really beat yesterday, and still kind of am today, but it was encouraging to read everyone's comments about the last three chapters and see everyone committed. It's certainly easier to get back to reading, which is always a catalyst for the day.

Father, thank You for these men and my energy. Let me live for You today. In Jesus' name,
Amen
