“We worked hard all night and caught nothing.”
Luke 5:5 NASB
Do you have any worn, wet, empty nets? Do you know the feeling of a sleepless, fishless night? Of course you do. For what have you been casting? Solvency? “My debt is an anvil around my neck…” Faith? “I want to believe, but…” Healing? “I’ve been sick so long…” A happy marriage? “No matter what I do…”
I’ve worked hard all night and caught nothing. You’ve felt what Peter felt. You’ve sat where Peter sat. And now Jesus is asking you to go fishing. He knows your nets are empty. He knows your heart is weary. He knows you’d like nothing more than to turn your back on the mess and call it a life. But he urges, “It’s not too late to try again.” See if Peter’s reply won’t help you formulate your own. “I will do as You say and let down the nets” (v.5).

It's the middle of the week. Tax returns are due. The Dow is down. I figured we might need a bit of encouragement. Where better to seek encouragement than the Word? And from Peter...

I am pretty sure we have all been close to this situation. What got us there probably varies greatly, but the reult is the same weary. Father give us the strength to carry on no matter the cost.

I need this as I wonder if my business will survive Obama or not! It's not just that God will provide for me - I have to remember that HE IS MY PROVISION. All this stuff happening from one day to the next in my life is just flesh-stuff that happens. He has provided for my eternity regardless of what happens down here. And my eternity started the day I received Christ!
Yes, this is a great reminder. Definitely have felt the frustration of the empty nets. In fact, I am dealing with that right now in ministry. Thanks for the encouragement...
Did someone say taxes are due this week;)
