A Living Sacrifice to God
1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Wow is all I can say, my body a living sacrifice!!! what does that look like today?? and, what would be acceptable to HIM. I also found it interesting that Paul tied this to the true way to worship. Most of us are probably familiar with verse 2, but being familiar is not the problem right. Question is, is am I letting God transform my mind? It is really only then will I be able to understand God's will for me. Who does not want to understand God's will for them? I know I do. So, let's take a few steps back to my original question, what does giving your body to God look like in today's world?
Blessings,
cas
Powerful verses and a must memorize for the basis of our christian walk. Very convicting when it comes to my mental input, dietary input, and exercising efforts.
Guys, please be praying for my father-in-law, Jim Stevens as he is in the Hospital for a series of tests for his heart, high blood pressure. His first test is scheduled for 10AM.
"Sacrifice" is not a word we like very much in America these days. When I used to talk with my Grandfather about sacrifice, I got a better picture of what it means. He had to drop out of high school when his father died so that he could support his family - but he didn't accept that sacrifice as an excuse for not succeeding in life. He became the #1 salesman nationally for B.F. Goodrich before he was 40, and was involved in Virginia's political system.
To him, what made a sacrifice "pure" is that you didn't even give yourself the benefit of "using" your sacrifice as a badge of honor, or as an excuse for failure in other areas of your life.
i.e. If I work in the church, it doesn't count as sacrifice if I'm merely being a lousy father/husband so that I have time available for the church. I have to succeed at home as well as at church - then I have made a pleasing sacrifice of myself. I pray that we can truly be living sacrifices...
great comments guys - really enjoyed reading them.
transformation is an interesting process. is there something more i can do to allow myself to be transformed? for me, i think being in bible study and reading the bible is a huge part of that. without that, i feel like my transformation is slowed.
Great comments guys. I struggle with allowing God to transform and to fully submit to Him. How do I let Him transform fully and completely (spirit, body, and mind)? It seems that whenever I relinquish control on one another one rears its ugly head. So in the end my body isn't the living sacrifice that it should be.
