Psalm 16 (NLT)

A psalm of David.

1 Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.
2 I said to the LORD, "You are my Master! All the good things I have are from you."
3 The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them!
4 Those who chase after other gods will be filled with sorrow. I will not take part in their sacrifices or even speak the names of their gods.
5 LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.
6 The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!
7 I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
9 No wonder my heart is filled with joy, and my mouth[a] shouts his praises! My body rests in safety.
10 For you will not leave my soul among the dead[b] or allow your godly one[c] to rot in the grave.
11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.

Footnotes:
Psalm 16:9 As in Greek version; Hebrew reads glory.
Psalm 16:10 Hebrew in Sheol.
Psalm 16:10 Or your Holy One.

Wow. The whole thing is phenomenal. I love the last verse.

11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.

Father give me the heart and mind of David. Help me learn to meditate on You more and to remember that You alone are my inheritance. Help us all start to live our days in joy becasue of You.

In Christ,

Psalm 16

This reminds me of my Mom. She is incredibly godly and I tell her all the time, "you are my Hero".

She just finished her 4th attack of cancer and has survived 24 years post the initial cancer. This time things are very tough, and she has mets throughout her body, especially in her bones. The chemo has cleared up her lungs enough that she is off oxygen and although tired, she is able to live "normally". We leave for vacation with her on Saturday. I can't wait. There is no greater blessing this year than to spend a week with my hero.

I praise you Lord even for these few days. And I ask you to extend her life and protect her from pain.

Morning Fellas,

JMB, it is truly a blessing from God for your mother to survive cancer 24+ years. We serve an awesome God.

verse 5 "LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine."

The Lord is all we need.

Lord, watch over us as we go about our days. Give us guidance in our walk for you. I lift up a special prayer for JMB as he visits his mother this weekend.

Amen, LT

Prov 16
I echo cas, I would copy all of them if it weren't simply redundant. I would like to try and memorize this chapter.
11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
I am convinced that this is recognition on David's part and hopefully ours, that God "WILL SHOW US" the way, His way. Even if we don't see it, or truly live it yet, He will show us. Through people like jmb's mom, our children, others, how truly blessed we are to have God in our lives, and that He will show us the way of Life.

Father, continue watching over jmb's mother, and let us take advantage of the blessed time You've given us with all those who are important to us. Bless each of these men, and help us all to stay focused on You today,
In Jesus' name,
Amen
